The Navigation Narrowboat Company - Boat Builders

Seventeen glittering awards were presented at The Waterways Festival 2011, with the most coveted trophy for Best Commercial Boat the ‘Lionel Munk Trophy’ being awarded to the Navigation Narrow Boat Company, for its narrow boat named ‘Oakmere’, based in Cheshire. Paul Chilvers, Festival Awards Officer said: “We have been overwhelmed this year by all of the entries.  The standard has been very high and we have had some spectacular entries - a big thank you must go to everyone that entered and our sponsors. The Festival Awards are an important part of our heritage and every year it is a reminder of how passionate people are about Britain’s inland waterways. Bill Saner from the Navigation Narrowboat Company said ”The Navigation Narrowboat Company have been boat builders since 1996, and had from inception one aim - to compete with the best boat builders on the canals and to provide the highest design and build standards possible within the framework of their customer’s requirements and budget. We are proud of the team of craftsmen boat builders here at the Marina -many of our guys have been building new boats with us man and boy! We are unique in being the only boat building company ever to have won the Lionel Munk Award for two years back-to-back, each year with a fresh, innovative design"

All hulls used by our company for new boats are built from 5mm steel by Tyler Wilson,  of Sheffield. The design and construction of these fine hulls provides our team of experienced craftsmen boat builders with the consistent quality and stability they seek to fulfil the rigorous fit-out procedure to produce an enduring craft which will shout quality into the years ahead.

From the outset, Bill had a strong design influence on the interior fit-out and created many features which have now become standard on new boats from the company. Design features incorporating curves were once ‘state of the art’ innovations from the Nantwich Narrowboat Company. Browse or download the Brochure
